It appears that Zach Galifianakis is no longer a funny fat man. Did he suddenly lose his personality? Far from it actually – but he recently lost over 50 lbs!
Zach has been missing in action for the last year but finally made a public appearance at a red carpet event on October 12th.
Zach looked slim and trim in his fitted suit at the event – but did not want to discuss the details of his weight loss. He in fact ignored the question altogether as one reporter said to Zach, “wow – you have lost a lot of weight” to which he replied “Ya – I’m dying.” LOL – looks like Zach has not lost his personality, just a whole lot of weight.
With the help from a trainer and nutritionist he rapidly shed 50 lbs of fat in about 6 months. We were able to discuss with the weight loss helpers what Zach did to lose weight so quick and they revealed his nutrition and workout program.
One of the biggest changes to Zach’s lifestyle was cutting out sweets. With the help of his nutritionist he was able to cut out a lot of his favorite sweets such as chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream.
Zach’s nutritionist explained that if he was able to workout regularly and keep his insulin levels fairly low throughout the day he would be able to shed body fat quickly. When you consume carbohydrates you spike your insulin levels, which makes it impossible to lose body fat. Low insulin levels will help you lose weight very quickly because it turns your body into fat burning mode instead of fat storage mode.
Besides cutting out a lot of his sweets he also included a lot of clean sources of lean protein. Zach’s nutritionist explained that lean protein is one the best things to increase when you are trying to lose weight. The extra lean protein will help you build lean muscle mass and increases your metabolism. This is the winning combination when it comes to losing weight quickly.
One more thing that Zach did since he cut out sweets was he included a lot of fresh fruit intake – especially in the morning and after his workouts. Zach’s weight loss team said that if you cut out sweets it is really important to find healthy replacements so you don’t have intense sugar cravings and fall of the wagon!
Some of Zach’s sweet tooth replacements included fresh bananas, organic blueberries, pineapple, watermelon and grapes. Zach also included raw honey to boost his natural antioxidants and agave syrup to sweeten his coffee in the morning.
Zach did not want to rely on short term solutions like powerful stimulant based fat burners – but heard a lot of good things about the all natural metabolism booster and appetite suppressant Garcinia Cambogia. Zach started taking it daily after breakfast and said that it increased his energy levels and did an incredible job at suppressing his appetite. Since Zach would often not eat lunch until 2 or 3 Pm he needed an all nautral solution to stave off his hunger for a good 6 hours after breakfast. Zach said he would recommend Garcinia Cambogia to anyone looking for increased energy, weight loss, or a reduction in appetite.
Zach has never been much of a workout junkie but started to incorporate a few days cardio to speed up his weight loss and become a calorie burning machine!
The biggest change for Zach was that he found forms of cardio that he truly enjoyed. Zach’s biggest piece of advice from his weight loss transformation was that if you are struggling to lose weight you need to find the form of exercise that you enjoy the most – regardless if they are the “best scientific form of exercise.”
Zach ignored a lot of experts and instead opted to ride his bike outside, play tennis, and go for summertime jobs in the mountains. While these forms of exercise may not be as effective as sprinting up hills or lifting heavy weights – they were ideal for Zach and his fitness levels.
Zach’s trainer explained that if you are overweight and haven’t built up a solid fitness foundation you will likely injure yourself or suffer from extreme fatigue if you throw yourself into the highly intense forms of exercise.
With the help of Zach’s weight loss team, a clean and healthy diet and forms of exercise he truly enjoyed – Zach was able to shed 50 lbs of fat and was reported saying that he has never felt better and had more energy.
Well done Zach – stay funny and stay healthy!
Zach Galifianakis Diet Plan
Zach Galifianakis recently showed up at a red carpet event looking slimmer and thinner than ever – and his nutritionist revealed his shocking weight loss strategy that included a whole meal plan makeover.
Zach traded out the sweets and pizza for whole grains and fresh produce. Although Zach recently joked at the event that the reason for his dramatic weight loss was “he was dying” – he in fact told another reported that he has never felt better and has a dramatic increase in energy levels.
From the funny fat man to the skinny fat man – Zach Galifianakis certainly had help from the best of the best when it comes to his diet strategy.
Here is how a typical day of eating looked like for Zach Galifianakis during his dramatic 50 lb weight loss over the course of 6 months.
Breakfast:
Zach use to eat a lot of pancakes and bacon for breakfast. His nutritionist said that the combination of simple carbohydrates and saturated fat is one of the worst things for your weight loss. It’s this combination that makes it nearly impossible to lose weight regardless of what your workout routine looks like.
Zach started off his day with oatmeal, fresh grilled chicken breast and fruit to satisfy his morning hunger. Many people don’t think to eat a chicken breast for breakfast but its much higher quality protein than turkey bacon and turkey sausage, which are the 2 most common sources of “healthy breakfast protein.”
Zach usually ate pineapple for breakfast to satisfy his sweet tooth in an all-natural way. Another bonus from eating pineapple is that it speeds up your digestion.
Starting off your day with a nutrient dense and high protein breakfast is always a safe bet for any weight loss or body transformation goal!
Another thing that Zach incorporated into his diet routine to speed up weight loss is he consumed a Garcinia Cambogia pill right after breakfast.
Garcinia Cambogia helped to speed up his metabolism, but most importantly it increased his energy levels and decreased his food cravings. Zach said that the combination of the energy and decrease of cravings from Garcina Cambogia was a huge help to his transformation – and would recommend it to anyone struggling with weight loss.
Lunch:
Zach skipped a mid morning snack and instead opted to just consume a bigger breakfast. His trainer and nutritionist suggested this so he could keep his insulin levels low for longer periods of time, which resulted in expeditious weight loss.
Zach typically ate breakfast around 8 Am and would wait until 2-3 Pm to eat lunch. Lunch was typically his largest meal of the day. This was another major change as Dinner use to be the biggest meal of Zach’s day – which is opposite of what you need if you are trying to lose weight.
For lunch Zach would combine slow digesting carbohydrates and lean protein so he would have energy all day. This also lowered his chances of indulging in a sweet treat later in the day because it regulated his blood sugar levels and decreased sugar cravings.
Some of his favorite slow digesting carbohydrates during his weight loss transformation were Quinoa, Brown Rice, Lentils and Sweet potatoes. He would always combine these with a lean protein source such as fat free ground turkey, boneless skinless chicken breast, egg whites and grass fed beef.
Dinner:
The biggest change that Zach made in his diet approach was cutting back calories at dinner. Zach joked that he use to eat for a family of seven – and now just eats for 1 miniature man!
From the help of his nutrition expert Zach would prepare delicious lean proteins and fresh vegetables for dinner. This helped his body recover from any workout he was doing and kept his insulin levels low, which resulted in fast weight loss.
The main sources of late night protein for him were usually fresh fish and egg whites. Fish and eggs are 2 of the highest quality form of protein – and to keep his calories very low he usually consumed egg whites vs. the whole eggs.
To add some flavor and excitement to his fish and veggies Zach would typically top it with a delicious mango salsa or fresh garden salsa. This was a low calorie way to add a bunch of flavor to his diet.
