Once the sexy bad girl on Dawson’s Creek, Michelle has become an It Girl on the red carpet. Check out how her style has changed over the past decade. Hollywood actresses often speak about the pressure the industry puts on them to stay as thin as possible. But Michelle Williams had a very different experience while filming recent movie Blue Valentine. The 30-year-old actress and her co-star Ryan Gosling were in a race to see who could gain the most weight during filming. And Michelle was the winner after gained over two stone in weight for her role as a unhappy wife and mother.
Director David Cianfrance initially wanted Michelle’s character to lose weight as her life unravelled. But the Brokeback Mountain actress thought it might be more realistic if she gained weight instead. According to Cianfrance, Michelle said ‘I don’t know about losing weight. What about if I gained some weight?’ And his reply was: ‘Surprise me.’
Williams and Gosling decided to make it interesting by competing against each other, and the Dawson Creek star beat him by barely a pound. Cianfrance says: ‘She ended up winning. She gained about 15, 16 pounds. He gained 14.’ Not only did he lose to Michelle, Gosling’s weight gain may contributed to him being dropped from his role in The Lovely Bones and replaced by Mark Wahlberg. The actress threw herself into the weight gain process with enthusiasm, eating high-fat foods all day long.
