John Goodman’s before and after photos are amazing! His latest pictures in the Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday show his incredible weight loss. So how did he drop the pounds? Goodman was looking trim and fit last year. And he’s made a complete transformation over the past few years since he hit his heaviest weight of close to 400 pounds.

“I just stopped eating all the time,” Goodman, 63, told Peter Travers. “I’d have a handful of food and it’d go to my mouth. I was just eating all the time. I was just eating alcoholically. In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a 6-pack of bud or whatever and just go back to my old habits. Then this time I wanted to do it slowly, move, exercise. I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore. And it gives me the energy to work, ‘cause work is very draining.”
Sure, Goodman’s had his ups and downs. He admitted that he lost over 100 pounds back in 2010, but he gained a lot of it back. But he’s only lost more since! He started to lose weight in 2014 and debuted a new, slim body back in October at the Trumbo premiere. And he looked like he lost even more weight when pictures came out of him at the airport.
So what are Goodman’s diet and exercise secrets? Goodman decided to maintain a healthy diet by cutting out sugar and alcohol and sticking to a six-day-a-week fitness plan. “I’m breaking a sweat but I’m not going nuts,” he said when he first started losing weight.
Goodman also works with trainer Mackie Shilstone. And Shilstone admitted it took a lot of time, energy, and hard work for Goodman to drop the pounds. “This didn’t happen overnight – it’s been an ongoing process,” Shilstone told the New York Post. Goodman makes sure to take 10,000 to 12,000 steps per day and goes on the elliptical bicycle, and treadmill.
