Calvin Klein (73) is an American fashion designer from New York. In 1968, Calvin Klein created his own fashion line named Calvin Klein Limited, in New York City. This brand is one of the most popular brands in terms of underwear and jeans, worldwide. If you’re not familiar with this name, then something is wrong with where you’re living.
Recently, his label picked one of the most famous reality TV star and model, Kendall Jenner (20). But despite having her as the newest face of the brand, it seems like the founder himself isn’t impressed.
Of course, like any other companies, CK is also formed by several directors, designers and investors. Ever since 2002, Calvin Klein lost the overall control over his campaign’s art direction. Which is why during his last talk at a certain school called the Savannah College of Art and Design, when asked by Fern Mallis about his opinion towards the two additions to his endorsers, the designer commented with:
“Now, models are paid for how many followers they have. They’re booked not because they represent the essence of the designer, which is what I tried to do — they’re booked because of how many followers they have online. I don’t think that, long-term, is going to work.”
He then proceeded commenting about Kendall with:
“You know, I’m really not that familiar with it. I’m honestly not. I’m sure she’s a lovely young woman. It’s not the kind of thing I would have done, even today.”
However, it seems like the designer likes the other model, Justin Bieber with his quote:
“When [I say] I like Justin Bieber in the Calvin Klein Underwear [campaign], it’s because I like him — not because he’s got millions of followers.”
