Academy Award-winning actress Mo’Nique made headlines back in May when she revealed her fabulous new physique, and guess what? She’s not only managed to keep the weight off (all 80 pounds, to be exact!), but she’s happier and healthier than ever.
On November 6th, 45-year-old “Precious” actress Mo’Nique began a weight loss journey that she has since documented daily on her website and Twitter account.
After nearly seven months of lifting weights, running, doing yoga, playing basketball and other activities, the Oscar-winning actress has lost 80 pounds. Mo’Nique told that she currently weighs 218 pounds after “tipping 300” when she starred in the 1999 sitcom “The Parkers.”
Mo’Nique, who just turned 46 on December 11, has been updating fans on her progress via social media since she started her fitness journey three years ago. And if her most recent pictures from an intense workout session on December 16 don’t inspire you, we don’t know what will.
The Precious star didn’t become a hardcore fitness guru overnight. For Mo’Nique, it’s important that fans understand that getting healthy isn’t about going on a crash diet and expecting immediate results — it’s about changing your lifestyle for the long term and enjoying the ride.
“I don’t do any fad diet, surgery, or pre-package foods,” she recently tweeted. “For my beautiful folks trying to lose weight. Keep in mind when we take short cuts, we get cut short.”
As the new year quickly approaches, Mo’Nique is trying to inspire others to take control of their health and wellbeing sooner rather than later. “Why wait until Jan 1, 2014 to save your life?” she asked her followers. “As we know we may not get to it. Save your life TODAY. New Day. Love u.” “My goal is between 190 and 200,” she continued, adding that she’s already very happy with her results.
