Christina Rene Hendricks is an American actress. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her mother, Jackie Sue (née Raymond), was a psychologist. Her father, Robert Hendricks, worked for the United States Forest Service and was from Birmingham, England. Through her father, she has dual U.S./U.K. nationality. Her family moved because of her father’s profession, living in Fairfax, Virginia; Portland, Oregon and Twin Falls, Idaho. She is best known for her role as Joan Holloway in the AMC drama television series Mad Men, for which she has been nominated for six Emmy Awards.
A poll of female readers taken by Esquire magazine named Hendricks “the sexiest woman in the world”. In 2010, she was voted Best Looking American Woman by Esquire magazine.
Hendricks’ films credits include Drive, God’s Pocket and Lost River. She currently appears as Celine/”Chair” in the Comedy Central sitcom Another Period.
